Non abscóndas fáciem tuam a me, quia in te sperávi. | Do not hide your face from me, for in you I have hoped. |
This is the antiphon for Tuesday Night Prayer – repeated after the psalm and doxology.
We say to the Lord here: Do not hide your face from me, with this construction: Non abscondas. In this case we’re using the subjunctive, a literal and probably incorrect translation of which would be May you not hide, but which is rendered Do not hide in a smooth English translation.
