Non accédet ad te malum

Non accédet ad te malum. Evil will not approach you.

accedet = it will approach. Future tense, from accedo,accedere.

ad te = to you.

malum = evil.

The word malum here is like the English word spring, which has several, unrelated meanings: a spring of water, bed springs, the season of spring. When we see malum in this sentence, we have to decide which of the following is intended:

malus,i – the mast of a ship.

malus,i – an apple tree.

malum,i – an apple; fruit.

malus,a,um – (adj) evil, wicked.

malum,i – (noun) evil, ugly.

It seems it must be the last of these.
